The close relationship between music and technology cannot understated, whether you’re a musician creating using keyboards and synthesisers or gamer on a quest backed by an amazing soundtrack. This relationship pushes boundaries creating new ways to make and enjoy music. Mogees Limited, an audio technology company developed a device (MOGEES Pro) which turns objects and surfaces into musical instruments. Now Mogees Ltd is using this technology to create a new way to play and learn using sound.
Founded by Bruno Zamborlin, Mogees Ltd successfully launched their first device after two Kickstarter campaigns. The support they’ve received from artists and musicians, has pioneered a new way to interact with surfaces and objects in the environment. Mogees Ltd recently launched a new Kickstarter for their latest device, MOGEES Play, which will be an affordable version of the current device. The Play version will be aimed at bringing this new experience to more people, using games and music software on iOS devices.
Mogees device uses sensor based technology to pick up vibrations from a range of different materials. The device connects with iOS (iPhone/iPad) or computers, which will transform vibration into sounds. The software and device notices the different interactions, able to distinctly recognise tapping, rubbing and drumming on connected objects and surfaces.
For MOGEES Play, they’ve developed three new applications: Pulse, Jams and Keys. Pulse is a music rhythm game which will give players an introduction into the basic music skills; teaching skills using variety of music across genres. Jam is music creation tool enabling users to create rhythms, using an objects musical properties to make different sounds. Keys will allow users to experiment with creating arpeggios, chords and melodies; Keys will only be available on iOS devices. These new applications developed specifically for MOGEES Play, were designed to introduce new users to MOGEES interface and interacting with their environment.
There is a fundamental relationship between people, music and the environment; whether it’s tapping our feet out of boredom or listening to the sounds created by the world around us. MOGEES Pro has changed the way some creatives interact and use the environment around them. MOGEES Play will expand on this idea bringing a different way to interact with objects into homes and schools; by blending music and play Mogees Ltd could potentially change the way we treat and interact with spaces around us.
